Two very different bets
1X Neo and Figure 02 sit at opposite ends of the humanoid market. Neo is a lightweight, soft-skinned bipedal robot explicitly designed to move safely around people at home — laundry, tidying, opening doors — with pre-orders open at roughly $20,000. Figure 02 is a heavier, rigid industrial platform being piloted inside BMW's Spartanburg plant and other logistics sites; it isn't sold to third parties and has no published sticker price.
AI capabilities
Both companies are training end-to-end neural policies rather than classical robotics stacks. Figure's Helix is a vision-language-action model that ingests camera frames plus a text instruction and outputs joint targets directly. 1X's approach is similar in spirit but optimised for household objects, cloth manipulation and multi-step chores learned from human teleoperation data. Neither exposes an SDK today, so third-party research use is limited.
Home vs industrial: which should you watch?
If you're a European consumer or a smart-home integrator, Neo is the only one of the two you can meaningfully engage with in 2026 — pre-orders route through 1X directly and the company has signalled European delivery. If you're an industrial buyer, Figure is the benchmark for logistics-grade humanoids but requires a direct enterprise conversation with Figure; there is no distributor path and no CE-marked commercial unit.
EU availability & compliance
Neither robot has a broad EU distributor network today. Neo pre-orders are direct with 1X and shipping timelines and CE marking should be confirmed with the manufacturer before committing budget.
